For those who have just now wandered into here, Electric Wonderland is a cartoon series about the Internet of the future.

I've thought a lot about this series and what the core of it is. And I've come to realize this: Electric Wonderland works best as an underdog story, since the crazy world it's set in is so overwhelming, the reader feels small to begin with. And people respond better to underdogs because they can identify with them.

The characters deal with their situation in different ways. Trawn chooses to fight it; NJ complains about it; Aerynn puts it out of her mind and parties; Shroomy wallows in it. As in, she feels hopeless under her sunny exterior. I've been trying to figure out what Shroomy is about, and I've finally put my finger on it: Shroomy is lonely.
